Gaming and sim peripheral manufacturer Thrustmaster has just released an interesting video featuring rally driver Jon Armstrong running through some helpful tips and tricks on their new T248 wheelbase and accompanying T3PM pedal set on DIRT 5.
Armstrong, who finished second in this season’s Junior World Rally Championship, is a Thrustmaster brand ambassador, and when not in a rally car works on the DiRT franchise as a game designer, a game in which his facial likeness is used throughout – sitting alongside WRC co-driver Phil Mills of course.
Thrustmaster’s T248 has been pitched as a ‘hybrid drive’, in that it uses both gear and belt driven systems to produce its force feedback effects, and is seen as a direct competitor to Logitech’s G923 based on price point and features, something we looked at in more detail in our review. Spoiler: we liked it, describing it as: “a robust wheel with great force feedback, fantastic on-the-fly control over a bunch of settings, and the button placement is bang-on“.
We chatted to Armstrong in a recent podcast episode about not only his rally career to date so far, but also his highly-successful Esports ventures.
