Bucolic overlanding game Over the Hill (over the hill) has been a runaway success, and now creators Funselektor and Strelka Games have merged into one entity.

The two entities worked together on both over the hill, and 2024’s 2D management game Golden Lap. Funselektor, aka Dune Casu, partnered with Italian studio Strelka to assist with Golden Lap development.

Over time, CEO and Co-Founder at Strelka, Pietro De Grandi, became interwoven with Funselektor, who previously created Absolute Drift and art of rally. As of March 2025, De Grandi took on the Chief Operating Officer role at Funselektor in March 2025 and recently became a shareholder.

Now, it has been confirmed that the entire Stelka team, with nine moving across, will be part of Funselektor permanently.

“A few years ago, Funselektor was going through difficult times and the future looked bleak. I proposed to my friend Pietro De Grandi that his team at Strelka Games help revive Golden Lap, one of our cancelled projects. It was a big financial risk, but one I knew I’d regret not taking,” said Casu on social media.

“At the same time, over the hill was just a small prototype, and making it felt out of reach.

“Fast forward to today, and we’ve shipped both games together! We’ve loved working with Strelka and have essentially been operating as one team for years, so making it official feels like a natural next step!”

Impressive over the hill sales

The merging of the two outfits follows impressive sales figures following over the hill’s PC release on 14th October 2026.

“It’s been two weeks since we released over the hill, which is doing great with more than 350k copies sold and a staggering 92% positive reviews on Steam,” said De Grandi on social media, five days before this article was published.

“We’re all ready for what’s next, and really looking forward to building more games together at Funselektor!”

Surpassing a quarter of a million sales in the launch window is a staggering achievement for the diminutive creation team.

“It somehow captures a little bit of that feeling you might get from a real-world expedition, but without the tent construction, mosquito bites and sand in your face,” we said in our review.

Further updates, downloadable content and console versions for over the hill are confirmed for 2027.
