Gran Turismo 7 Spec III update: Everything you need to know

Gran Turismo 7’s biggest update yet is here, with Spec III bringing eight cars, two tracks and a host of new features and improvements.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec III everything you need to know

Christmas has come early for Gran Turismo 7 players, with the gargantuan Spec III update releasing today, 4th December.

Gran Turismo 7’s biggest update yet, Spec III brings eight cars, two tracks and a host of new features and improvements as the game approaches its fourth anniversary next year.

Eight new cars

The Spec III update adds eight new cars – the most in any update to date. It’s a typically eclectic mix, with everything from a fictional single seater to an F1-powered minivan.

Arguably, the standout is the radical Renault Espace F1. Last seen in 1999’s Gran Turismo, the one-off minivan shares the same screaming V10 as the 1992 championship-winning Williams FW14 single-seater to promote Renault’s Formula 1 team at the time. It’s only available in the Legends Car dealership.

Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack DLC Ferrari 296 GT3

Another welcome addition is the current Ferrari 296 GT3, finally updating Gran Turismo 7’s GT3 roster.

  • Ferrari 296 GT3 2023 – Brand Central – Gr.3 743.47 pp – 1,200,000 credits
  • Ferrari 296 GTB 2022 – Brand Central – 683.12 pp – 500,000 credits
  • Fiat Panda 30 CL 1985 – Used Cars – 147.80 pp – 14,000 credits
  • Gran Turismo F3500-B – Brand Central – 958.58 pp – 1,000,000 credits
  • Mine’s BNR34 GT-R N1 base – Brand Central – 643.59 pp – 3,000,000 credits
  • Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R 1997 – Used Cars – 450,40 pp – 35,000 credits

  • Renault Espace F1 1995 – Legend Cars – 758.58 pp – 2,000,000 credits

Two new tracks

Alongside the new cars are two real-world tracks: Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit and Canada’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Both circuits are best known for hosting Formula 1 grand prixs and mark the first time Gran Turismo 7 has received new tracks in over a year since the Alpine Eiger Nordwand route.

Circuit Experience and World Circuit events

A new Nürburgring Endurance II has also been added, along with Circuit Experience events for Yas Marina Circuit, Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve and, unexpectedly, Eiger Nordwand Reverse.

A selection of new World Circuit events also expands the single-player campaign:

Blue Moon Bay Speedway – Infield A

Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve

  • Nissan GT-R Cup
  • Super Formula

Goodwood Motor Circuit

  • European Sunday Cup 400

Yas Marina Circuit

  • Ferrari Circuit Challenge

Data logger

Another addition is a new Data Logger that lets players analyse their driving from replays. A visual graph compares your lap with the correct racing lines, helping you improve your lap times. Data can be loaded after completing a Time Trial, Drift Trial or Circuit Experience event among others.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec III Seasonal Menu

However, Spec III also introduces a new ‘Seasonal Menu,’ where collecting certain cars unlocks an extra reward. These will change on rotation, with the current Seasonal Menu ending in 17 days, and unlock after clearing Menu Book No. 39.

The first Seasonal Menu requires you to buy the Fiat Panda, Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R and Renault Espace F1 included in Spec III, and rewards you with a 6-Star Roulette Ticket.

Car invites

Previously, certain expensive cars in Brand Central required an invite to purchase. Invites were distributed through the roulette prize system. This caused much chagrin for players who once saved up to buy a new Ferrari Enzo, for example, but then couldn’t buy it without an illuse invite.

Now, upon launching Gran Turismo 7 after Spec III, you will be gifted an open invitation with no expiry for all brands that have previously used the invite system. Thus, you no longer need an invite to buy any car in-game.

Other changes include a new opening cinematic celebrating Spec III’s launch, the Collector Level limit increasing to 70 and improved force feedback effects for steering wheels.

The full patch notes can be found below.

Today also sees the release of the Power Pack DLC. Priced at £24.99 / $29.99, Gran Turismo 7’s first paid DLC brings 50 race events including the return of 24-hour races, along with six specially tuned cars.
