2025 British F4 Esports Championship Round 3: Gilbert seizes the advantage

Team Benik’s Remy Gilbert capitalised on a DNF for team-mate Henry Moore as the British F4 Esports Championship visited Snetterton for Round 3.

Henry Moore and his Team Benik team-mate Remy Gilbert stamped their authority over the 2025 British F4 Esports Championship field during Round 2 at Thruxton, with the duo picking up four combined podiums from a pair of chaotic races.

Moore held an 18-point lead over TC Esports’ Dani Moreno in the Drivers’ standings as a result, with Gilbert lying third, a further 17 points behind.

The Benik pair would also dominate qualifying in Round 3 at Snetterton, with Moore claiming the top spot from Gilbert by under a tenth of a second. Moreno could only muster seventh, however, and had work to do to get on terms with his championship rivals.

Race 1

Moore and Gilbert made quick starts and were closely shadowed by Drive Lounge Racing’s Leo Brown and HYMO Setups by EMM’s Matt Caruana. However, despite making up ground on lap one, Moreno was spun out on the approach to Brundle, dropping him out of contention.

Caruana looked the raciest of the leading quartet, and he promptly pulled off overtaking moves on both Brown and Gilbert in successive laps, with his eyes firmly fixed on Moore ahead.

If catching Moore is one thing, passing him is quite another, as the top three broke away from the pack behind, Gilbert maintaining a watching brief over the lead battle.

Caruana started to pile on the pressure on the penultimate lap; however, a lock-up at Agostini turned attack into defence for Caruana. Moore was able to take the victory with a largely untroubled run to the finish line, while Caruana did just enough to hold onto second.

Race 2

William Chadwick, who has often found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time in British F4 Esports races, started the reversed grid race from pole position, with Mensah Racing Driven By Us’s Stanley Deslandes alongside on the front row. Championship leader Moore would start from sixth.

Chadwick held the advantage into Turn 1, but Deslandes dropped to fourth after snatching a brake at Turn 2. Leo Brown gave chase for the lead, followed closely by Gilbert.

Chadwick would drop from first to third at the start of lap two, and soon had his team-mate Caruana for company. He lost out to his Hymo stablemate on the following lap after running wide at Riches and now took up a defensive riposte to protect Caruana from Moore.

However, while battling hard into Agostini, Deslandes launched an ill-judged double overtake on Moore and Chadwick, forcing Chadwick into the side of Moore on exit, delaying both as a result.

In the ensuing melee, an untidy clash between Ferrari Esports’ Gergo Baldi and Aston Martin’s Issie Smith led to contact with Chadwick, who cannoned straight into Moore, eliminating both from contention.

The chaos behind allowed the leading trio to break away from the pack, with Caruana and Gilbert presented with a golden opportunity to take the championship lead away from Moore. However, some slight contact exiting Agostini forced Caruana onto the grass, allowing Deslandes through into third.

Brown and Gilbert maintained their battle for the lead, but Gilbert, sensing the struggles of Moore and Caruana, had already settled for second position, allowing Brown a trouble-free run to the chequered flag.

Caruana, on the other hand, was having a ding-dong battle for the final step on the podium, falling short of third-place Deslandes by just a tenth of a second.

Gilbert now holds a slender one-point lead over Caruana in the Drivers’ championship, with Moore demoted to third. Team Benik maintains its dominant position in the Teams’ championship, with HYMO Setups by EMM a huge 149 points behind.

Former championship leader Matt Kendall endured a character-building second round at Thruxton, losing ground in the series to both Crofton Woodhatch and the table-topping Jayden Sherwood.

However, it was Thruxton Race 1 winner Hayden Bramley who took pole position honours, followed closely by Teemu Myllykangas in second and Sam Sanders in third. Woodhatch and Kendall would start line astern in fourth and fifth.

Race 1

Bramley held a tight line into Riches on lap one, with Sanders usurping Myllykangas for second. Sanders would soon drop down the order, though, as Myllykangas slipstreamed past on lap two, and was quickly followed by the fast-starting Kendall and Woodhatch.

Further back, championship leader Sherwood tripped himself up while trying to make up positions and fell to the rear of the field.

By mid-distance, Kendall had shuffled to the front of the seven-strong leading pack, but with two laps to go, Sanders pulled off a surprisingly powerful slingshot manoeuvre down the Bentley Straight to take the lead.

Sanders impressively held first position to the chequered flag, his second win of the season, as the pack behind squabbled for second, with Kendall holding Bramley off for runner-up honours.

Race 2

The reverse grid draw saw Dylan Decker assigned pole position, sitting alongside Dylan McClements on the front row. Race 1 winner Sanders would start eighth.

Despite a solid start, Decker would lose the lead to McClements by Oggies on lap one, but did well to fend off the advances of Myllykangas on the second tour. Unfortunately, Woodhatch’s challenge all but ended at the Agostini hairpin as Jonathan Smith locked up under braking and tagged the former’s left-rear suspension. A late-race spin compounded his misery.

Meanwhile, Myllykangas and McClements were battling hard for the lead, but Myllykangas had received a black flag, presumably for exceeding the incident point limit, eliminating him from the reckoning.

However, he persevered with his pursuit of an on-road victory, with McClements offering up an equally robust defence.

Although Myllykangas finished the race at the head of the field, he lost the win to McClements after his penalty was applied, allowing Bramley and Kendall to claim second and third position, respectively.

Round 4 of the British F4 Esports Championship and UK FF1600 Esports Cup will take place on the 22nd October at Oulton Park International, with all the racing broadcast live on iRacing’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook channels, produced by RaceSpot TV.
