With just two rounds remaining, it’s now time to shift our attention away from the number of race winners, and onto the championship fight with a share of a $50,000 prize pool up for grabs.

The 2022 Formula Pro Series heads to the Circuit d’Azur in the south of France for yet another challenging race – the tight street circuit unlike anything else on the calendar.

The undercard Formula Challenge Series races at this venue last week, and it was home to several racing incidents before R8G Esports’ Risto Kappet won for the second time in a row.

Meanwhile, in the Formula Pro Series, Kappet’s R8G colleague Marcell Csincsik won at Donington Park to build a championship challenge.

There’s only one change to the line-up for the fifth round, with Erhan Jajovski replaced by GT Pro Series race winner Jiri Toman as Csincsik’s teammate.

Burst Esport driver Jernej Simončič continues to head the championship standings, as he has done since the second round in Monza. His lofty position at the top of the standings looked to be cemented in place mid-way through the Donington round until he slipped back towards the end.

He still leads, but by just 10 points ahead of Kevin Siggy, 11 ahead of Dennis Jordan, 12 ahead of both reigning champion Bono Huis and Csincsik and 13 ahead of 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual winner Jeffrey Rietveld.
