Update 12 adds a McLaren and Lamborghini to Forza Motorsport

The Turn 10 Studios team continues to work away on Forza Motorsport, the initially ill-fated sim-like driving title.

Update 12 adds a much-requested feature, some welcome tweaks and two new cars.

Most of the new content and challenges are themed around vehicles with the ending mounted behind the driver but ahead of the rear axle.

Consequently, there is a new single-player tour for mid-engined cars only. Complete this tour and all six series in the open-class tour to unlock…

Forza Motorsport McLaren Artura

Two new cars

  • McLaren Artura
  • Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder 2020

Both are mid-engined, unsurprisingly. The Artura is yours for completing the mid-engine single-player tour, the Lamborghini variant for completing the open-class series or 10 open event races in multiplier…

Challenge Hub

Which leads us neatly onto the challenge hub. A new feature, you can now unlock rewards be completing adjacent tasks outside of the main career. Reminding us somewhat of Forza Horizon 5’s accolades, these mini-achievements also incorporate your featured multiplayer performances.

Spectate Mode

Several prominent leagues that used Forza Motorsport 7 have abandoned the new Forza Motorsport. However, in a specific bid to appear communities, a spectate mode will allow one user to enter in effect a ‘live’ replay – this could be ideal for those looking to broadcast online races.

It works in very similar to a reply, allowing you to customise the HUD and switch camera angles on the fly. Two further camera angles have been added. Being able to save the spectate mode action like a regular reply should also be possible.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Edition

Two new cars you say? Actually it’s three, as the Nike promotional tie-in (also arriving in Forza Horizon 5 this week) is also here in the form of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport.

The design is meant to replicate that of a training shoe. I’m also meant to replicate the looks of George Clooney…

Further weather options

Forza Motorsport has dynamic weather, but until now, not very customisable for leagues, private lobbies and free play.

That changes with this update thanks to the added ability to tweak the expected conditions across three phases of a race.

Alongside the qualify of life changes, new Rivals challenges are live, including a Mobil 1 tie-in where you must try to beat Jenson Button’s time.

Update 12 is live today, 9th September 2024, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. A return for the Sunset Peninsula venue is expected in October. The full changelog is below.
