Summer Game Fest saw the surprise announcement of Stuntman: Hollywood, the first entry in the movie-inspired driving franchise since 2007’s Stuntman Ignition.
While the original was developed by Reflections Interactive (the team behind the Driver series) and the sequel was helmed by Paradigm Entertainment, Saber Interactive is behind the new entry.
Like previous games, you take the role of a stunt driver completing action set pieces for various movies. The difference this time, however, is that they are based on licensed Universal IPs, with cars and locations from films and TV shows such as The Fast and the Furious, Back to the Future and Knight Rider. And now Jurassic World can be added to that list.
Shown during Xbox’s second Gamescom presentation, a new trailer mixing cinematics and gameplay shows an off-roader racing through a jungle while avoiding falling rocks and, naturally, dinosaurs.
In a separate bombastic sequence, a dirt bike escapes an erupting volcano while being chased by dinosaurs. This could be a promising, action-focused arcade game harking back to the era of games like Split/Second and Blur , but it all depends on how the driving physics stack up.
Stuntman: Hollywood doesn’t have a release date or window yet, but can be wishlisted on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
