Season 18 of Rocket League is nearly upon us and it’s set to introduce a whole new set of mutators to the riotously fun car football game.

One of these allows players to add more than one ball to games – as if matches aren’t chaotic enough – while others allow competitors to mess with gravity and score points based on demolitions.

Look to the Futura

Beginning on the 14th of March, Season 18 has a futuristic feel and includes the suitably modern Futura Garden Arena. Unusually, this has been combined with the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Car Body (using Dominus hitbox), a nod to muscle cars of yore.

The Charger is unlocked immediately as part of Season 18’s Rocket Pass Premium, with further tiers unlocking the Azura Car Body (using Breakout hitbox)  and accessories like the Space Tower Antenna, Spaceship Topper and Waypoint Trail.

Both car bodies are eligible for cross-game ownership between Rocket League and Fortnite.

All players will, however, receive a Future Fashion Banner for simply logging into the game, as well as gain a free “Breathe” Player Anthem by Bad Computer.

The full list of new features can be found in the changelog below.

Rocket League Season 18 and v2.49 changelog

Control Your Destiny with New Mutators

  • Why wait for a perfect utopia when you can create one NOW? (Or, you know… when patch v2.49 goes out.) On March 14 Pacific Time slightly before the Season begins, we’re introducing a range of new mutators that’ll allow you to make your own weird and wonderful experiences in Exhibition Mode and Private Matches.
  • Want the madness of multiple soccar balls? Go for it. Fancy dialing down the ball gravity? Sure thing. Score points for each demolition? Let the explosions begin. Here’s the full list of all the new mutators.
  • Jumps: Take to the skies by increasing the number of jumps you can do at once! Do a double-jump, triple-jump, octuple-jump… Or, turn jumps off entirely and keep the competition ground level.
  • Number of Balls: Why have just one soccar ball when you could have six? Choose between having one, two, four, or six balls in play.
  • Ball Gravity: Alter the ball’s gravitational pull and let the mayhem ensue. Options include low, high, super, and good ol’ fashioned default.
  • Dodge Timer: Change the time allowed between dodges. Dial things up to unlimited and avoid ANY obstacle!
  • Possession Score: Shake up the game by allowing players to score points just for staying in control of the ball.
  • Demolish Score: Bring on the destruction! Allow players to score up to three points for each demolition.
  • Normal Goal Score: Go for the goal like never before. Increase the points earned for each successful shot in the back of the net!
  • Aerial Goal Score: Look out below! Increase how much you can score for each successful airborne shot.
  • Assist Score: Teamwork is the key to victory. Allow players to earn up to three points for each assist.
  • Enforce Territories: Get back on your side! This mutator enables the Split Shot wall, dividing teams across each half of the field. Players will be demolished if they touch the ground on the opponents’ side.

Ping: The Sound of an Almost Goal

  • You were that close! Whenever the ball hits the crossbar or goal posts, a ping will echo throughout the arena, making sure your teammates don’t celebrate victory prematurely. Better luck next time…
  • This change will go live March 14 Pacific Time with v2.49. Speaking of crossbar, Season 18 is celebrating the “Crossbar Queen” Athena with the free CROSSBAR QUEEN Player Title! Find this Title in the Shop’s Community tab from March 14 at 9 AM PT to March 21 at 8:59 AM PT. Her returning “Moment (Worlds Version)” and “Eternal” Player Anthems will be purchasable in the tab from March 14 at 12 PM PT to March 18 at 11:59 AM PT.

Voice Reporting in Rocket League

  • Being a good sport never goes out of fashion. We’re expanding player reporting in Rocket League to include voice reporting in v2.49. If you play Fortnite, you may be familiar with this feature.
  • Voice reporting means in addition to being able to block, mute, and report other players, you will be able to submit audio evidence when reporting suspected violations of our Community Rules. This will help us take action against players using voice chat to bully, harass, discriminate, or engage in other inappropriate behavior. Learn more about voice reporting in our FAQ.

Rocket Pass Premium

  • Your vehicle customization options are about to take a quantum leap! Advance through Season 18’s Rocket Pass Premium Tiers to unlock cutting-edge items and experience the next generation of automotive aesthetics.
  • Even if this Season were traveling to the past, Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack would still fit in with its clean look. Alternatively, with the more involved appearance of Azura, you can face the future boldly. (Not that you’d need to, because the future looks bright in Futura Garden!)
  • Let’s continue with something that couldn’t be more futuristic: neon lasers! With the animated Cosmological Decal, your car will look like a non-stop rave. If that doesn’t make you feel like the star of the show, shine like the soccar champion you are with the StarStud Boost.
  • The fourth state of matter may be too hard to understand in the present, but you can make it common knowledge in the future with the Plasma Ball Goal Explosion. If the geography of the cosmos is more your area of expertise, the Star Chart Goal Explosion might be more your thing!
  • Who says you can’t take an old friend with you to the future? (Or at least a new version of an old one.) The Pigeon 3000 Topper is here to make sure the pecking order stays the same against artificial forms of life like the Rocket Drone Antenna.
  • Like how Season 18 is a peek of a perfect future, the rewards mentioned above are just a peek of what the Rocket Pass holds. This Season’s Rocket Pass is piled high with rewards, with 70+ Tiers across free and Premium. Don’t forget to live in the moment with what you unlock!

Use this Goal Explosion to turn the whole arena into a disco party! But how about we take a step back in time? Step into the dark ages (meaning, before disco graced this world) with the Knighted Topper.
  • There are plenty more Tournament Rewards, so compete like your future depends on it!
  • Pack your trunk for utopia — Season 18 runs from March 14 ‘til June 18, 2025!
