In our review of Saber Interactive’s RoadCraft (8/10), we predicted it had ‘all the ingredients to be the surprise hit of the summer’, and the numbers appear to back this up.

On Steam, Saber’s 2021 mega-hit Snowrunner has garnered an all-time player peak of 11,145, which compares favourably to the studio’s previous game, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, which could only muster 4,915 when it released last year.

However, RoadCraft has blown both of them out of the water, achieving an all-time player peak of 33,761 on release day (20th May 2025), more than three times Snowrunner‘s peak figures.

In some ways, this shouldn’t be a surprise given RoadCraft’s wider sandbox gameplay appeal, but the numbers are still hugely impressive considering Snowrunner released in the throes of the global COVID-19 pandemic, when gaming took on extra importance in people’s lives.
