R8G Esports reveals formidable ESL R1 driver lineup

As the ESL R1 entry list continues to be completed, today (27th January), it’s now the turn of Romain Grosjean’s eponymous R8G Esports team.

The squad has announced six drivers for its lineup, four who will compete and two who will act as supports to assist with getting up to speed on the new Rennsport platform.

Former World’s Fastest Gamer competitor Erhan Jajovski, who recently won the GTE class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, will be part of the four competing drivers, alongside GT Pro Series race winner Jiri Toman.

The championship that replaced GT Pro and Challenge was Formula Pro, and Challenge, and it’s here where Risto Kappet won races in 2022.

“I entered because this is maybe a once-in-a-career chance to start from scratch on a new sim platform, so anything can happen,” says Kappet to Traxion.GG.

Of course, the bigger teams will be potentially better prepared as usual, but I still hope to be in the fight, enjoy the LAN events and supports my giga-talented teammates who have the chance to fight for wins.”

The entry is rounded out by Marcell Csincsik, a Formula Pro Series race victor last season. It’s clear that the team is relying heavily on rFactor 2 expertise.

The inaugural season begins at the IEM Expo Katowice 11th-12th February 2023, followed by a series of online events, with a €500,000 prize pool.
