Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi has openly talked about visiting the Chinese tech company, but now a logo has been spotted at the upcoming World Series event.

Look closely at this article’s main image, and you will see the Gran Turismo logo sitting next to Xiaomi’s.

The image was shared by GT’s lead Kazunori Yamauchi, from the BBC Studioworks venue in London, which is hosting tomorrow’s round of the Gran Turismo World Series competition.

This looks as if it could be used during a mid-event presentation – the World Series event broadcasts are often used to announce game updates, new cars or partnerships.

The post was swiftly edited, using X Verified features, and is now minus the Xiaomi logo-featuring image.

What the possible Xiaomi tie-in could be, however, remains under wraps until the event begins at 15:40 BST/16:40 CEST on Saturday 7th June. It follows Yamauchi’s meeting with Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun, discussed in a social media post towards the end of May.

The Beijing-based conglomerate is across several markets, including smartphones, toothbrushes, air fryers and cars – its super-saloon, the SU7, sold 200,000 units in just one year on sale.

It could be that said vehicle is set for Gran Turismo 7 inclusion, or there’s a Vision Gran Turismo model or a joint venture of a different kind.

Traxion will be on-site at the event, and we’ll report back as soon as we can confirm further details.
