Not only is the race celebrating a milestone, but the German sportscar manufacturer is too, celebrating 75 years of sports cars (although the company technically has its roots set 92 years ago).
The Porsche 963 running at this weekend’s race will be running a special multi-coloured livery, and to tie in with the occasion, there is a Porsche-design Xbox Series X console and matching gamepad, unveiled during the Summer Games Fest event today, 8th June 2023.
There are 15 coloured stripes in total, each representing previous endurance racers from the company’s history. It has won the Le Mans races 19 times overall, so far.
It is not for sale, but six can be won via a dedicated competition website.
In total, 75 Porsche-themed Xbox consoles will be made, with other designs harking back to classic motorsport entries, such as the 1971 ‘pink pig’ 917/20 and the 1998-race-winning 911 GT1. No details on how people can get hold of these additional anniversary consoles have been revealed so far.
In other Porsche-related celebration news, it also unveiled an electric hypercar concept, the Mission X, which is set to preview a potential successor to 2013’s 918 Spyder. It’s not in a game yet, so where would you like to see it? Let us know in the comments below.
