NASCAR Arcade Rush announced, coming in 2023

On Tuesday (20th June), NASCAR announced that they’ve teamed up with GameMill Entertainment for an arcade racing title that’s due out later this year. NASCAR Arcade Rush is that title and it will release in 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

This arcade racing title is wrapped around the history of NASCAR in a fictional setting. As NASCAR celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2023, NASCAR Arcade Rush intends to honor that history with many different styles of cars in the title.

GameMill Entertainment has previously had their name on racing titles such as NHRA: Speed for All, Cruis’n Blast and the Nickelodeon Kart Racers franchise.

Game Modes

NASCAR Arcade Rush is akin to past NASCAR arcade-style games such as NASCAR Rumble or NASCAR Unleashed. The new title for 2023 will include a Career NASCAR Cup Series mode, as well as Quick Race and Time Attack for single player activities.

For Multiplayer, head-to-head local multiplayer will be included for two players to compete on a single console. There will also be 12-player online multiplayer as well.

Player customization will be a big part as well. The title will include “vehicles spanning 75 years of stock car racing history and horsepower” and players will be able to customize both their car and driver in terms of “paint schemes, rims, spoilers, visual effects, suits, helmets and more” per the release.

Cars, Drivers and Teams

Outside of what the player can create, there doesn’t seem to be any current drivers, teams or manufacturers in the title, and all the cars portrayed are also without manufacturers. Goodyear, Sunoco and Mechanix Wear are the only brands prominently displayed along with the current-day NASCAR logo.

NASCAR currently fields Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota vehicles in the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series. It doesn’t seem that these brands are included. Instead, generational cars that look to mimic cars through many years, including current day cars, are shown but with generic NASCAR branding.

No drivers or teams or other NASCAR sponsors were shown in the reveal either. This could always change before the release, but it was not displayed in the reveal.

Tracks

The tracks are a big part of the reveal as well. Tracks that were named included Talladega Superspeedway, Daytona International Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Martinsville Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway, but they’ve all been reimagined in arcade fashion.

Jumps, boosts, and overall kart-style track additions have been included into these official venues. As the release puts it, the tracks have been “totally reengineered with jaw-dropping twists, hair-raising turns, gravity-defying jumps, nitro boosts and other surprises.”

Project-X Bundle Pack

A digital exclusive version of the game, which will cost a little bit extra, is also available. This bonus pack, the Project-X Bundle, will include extra customization items for your player and car. Those items include:

  • A hovercraft car model developed as part of Project-X
  • Project-X paint scheme, rims, wheels, and spoiler
  • Project-X themed drivers suit and helmet
  • Project-X team sponsorship option
  • Project-X vehicle FX package
  • A set of four additional in-game emojis to showcase your style

NASCAR Arcade Rush Release Date

There’s no set release date for NASCAR Arcade Rush, but it is slated to release at some point later in 2023. It will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Pre-orders are available now. The base game will cost $49.99 and the Project-X Bundle Pack edition, which is digital only, is $59.99.
