The 2022 Season Update for NASCAR 21: Ignition officially has a release date (6th October 2022) per an announcement by Motorsport Games on Wednesday (21st September 2022).

The free update brings the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season into the 2021 title to all who own the game.

2022 season update, car and tracks

NASCAR 21: Ignition‘s 2022 Season Update includes the real-world 2022 NASCAR Cup Series roster of drivers, teams, and paint schemes on the new car for 2022, the NASCAR NEXT Gen. Contemporary car models will be included for the Chevy, Ford and Toyota alike.

The trailer briefly shows clips at all the new venues – Atlanta’s reconfig, plus Auto Club and World Wide Technology Raceway.

User interface, HUD and pricing changes

There will be updates to the game outside of the 2022 season too. Some of these changes will include “refreshed user interface elements,” an “upgraded HUD” which will have “all new tire wear and fuel indicators”, and there will be new lines of dialogue for the intro scenes from MRN’s Alex Hayden.

The bottom right corner shows the new tires and fuel gauges coming in the 6th October update.

Meanwhile, the base price for NASCAR 21: Ignition, will be reduced in price to $19.99, well below the original market value, which was $59.99 at launch. Before the publication of this article, the Standard edition of NASCAR 21: Ignition retailed for $44.99 on Steam and $29.99 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

There will also be a NASCAR 21: Ignition Victory Edition that will include the 2022 Expansion, the previous 2021 Season Pass ($29.99 separately) and the 2022 DLC content in a future Season Pass 2.

It was confirmed to Traxion.GG by Astrsk PR that the Victory Edition will be available on 6th October as well and will cost $49.99.

Season Pass 2

Ah yes, the media information mentions a Season Pass 2 as optional paid downloadable content. Zero details are mentioned or confirmed. The first Season Pass for the game included three livery packs: Throwback, Patriotic and Playoff.

This is all in place of a separate 2022 game release on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with the development focus switching to a new platform for 2023.

There will be a 2022 game released, however, in the form NASCAR Rivals for the Nintendo Switch – also featuring the current season – launching 14th October.

UPDATE – 12:15 pm ET, 21st September 2022

Per the release, “updates to the title will be seen across Race Now, Online Multiplayer and the Paint Booth.

“Regarding that specific line, I asked an Astrsk PR representative if that pertained to the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series content. “The 2022 content will not be available for Career Mode in Ignition” was the response I received.
