Milestone is synonymous with the MotoGP game series, having consistently released yearly entries since 2013. But with its most recent licensing extension set to expire this year, the Italian developer’s future with the series was uncertain.

Now, MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group has announced that Milestone will continue to helm the official motorcycle series as part of a “significant, multiyear global partnership extension,” with both companies “looking ahead to shaping the future of the MotoGP video game experience.”

How long this partnership will last was not announced, but it suggests the Italian studio will continue developing MotoGP games for the foreseeable future. Its previous partnership extension lasted four years, from 2022 to “at least 2026.”

“Milestone and MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group have built one of the strongest partnerships in the world of sports and entertainment,” said Luisa Bixio, CEO of Milestone.

“Since 2013, we have fully embraced the MotoGP spirit, and we will continue to proudly bring the thrill, passion and emotion of MotoGP into the hands of players and fans around the world, while actively contributing to the global growth of the sport.”

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Milestone, which has played a key role in bringing the excitement of MotoGP to millions of fans around the world,” MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta added.

“Together, we have built a benchmark in motorsport gaming, and this renewal reflects our shared ambition to continue growing the sport’s reach, engaging new audiences, and delivering innovative experiences for fans globally.”

Additionally, Milestone announced that the MotoGP game series has now reached over 18 million players since 2013. Before then, it also developed the PlayStation 2-exclusive MotoGP 07 and MotoGP 08 for PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360.

The partnership extension follows last month’s release of MotoGP 26, which introduces new ‘rider-based physics,’ a revamped career mode and the return of the Brazil GP circuit. It also marks the series’ debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
