Mercedes' title defence gets underway as it reveals F1 Esports Series Pro line-up

One of the final F1 Esports Series Pro teams to reveal their 2022 line-up is defending champions Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Esports. However, yesterday (7th September 2022), the team finally announced the three drivers it hopes will once again secure both the driver and team championships.

Mercedes’ successful 2021 line-up of Jarno Opmeer and Dani Moreno unsurprisingly remains unchanged, as the pair’s consistent scoring led to them finishing 37 points clear of Red Bull Racing Esports in the Constructors Standings.

Opmeer became driver champion, taking four wins in twelve races, while Moreno built on his 2020 ‘Rookie of the Year’ award to take a win at Zandvoort, finishing fourth in the overall standings.

Jake Benham completes Mercedes’ three-strong roster in F1 Esports Series Pro, his promotion to the series arriving after becoming a double World Online Racing series champion, as well as his successful run to third place in the 2022 Pro Exhibition feeder series.

“I can’t wait to get started in this year’s Pro Series, alongside Dani and Jake, and we’ll be out to defend our titles against some very strong opposition. Preparations for the tournament are well underway and we are practising very hard for when the lights go out around Bahrain on 14th September,” said Opmeer.
