Max Verstappen will return to top-level sim racing esports competition when the 63-time grand prix winner enters the fourth round of the current IMSA Esports Global Championship.

Using the motorsport simulation platform iRacing, the race will be the final round of the International Motor Sports Association’s official virtual competition.

Verstappen will be entered in a wildcard Acura ARX-06 GTP alongside sim racing talent Gustavo Ariel.

This is the same vehicle he tested in the real-world, last November on the run-up to the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Instead of the closely linked Team Redline outfit, which is already represented in the championship, the 27-year-old will be driving for Verstappen.com Racing.

The track will be at Daytona International Speedway’s road course for two hours and 40 minutes. It will be broadcast live on both IMSA and iRacing’s YouTube channels.

Coverage on Sunday 12th January begins at 1:45 pm EST / 10:45 am PST / 6:45 pm GMT with the Countdown to Green pre-show brought to you by Traxion.GG.

The overall championship is being led by Williams Esports Chillblast in GTP and Team Redline in GTD.
