New kids on the oval racing block, Live Fast Motorsports, is pairing up with developer/publishers Motorsport Games for part of the 2021 NASCAR season.
Motorsport Games is the parent company of 704 Games, known for producing the official game of NASCAR – the NASCAR Heat franchise. They’ve revealed that this utterly beautiful car will be taking the track at the prestigious Daytona 500.
It’s also worth noting that this release also announces that the game will be free-to-play on Xbox for the weekend of the main race (11th -14th February). So if you’re an Xbox Live member, it’s probably worth giving it a go free of charge.
Live Fast Motorsports is a rare breed, it’s got NASCAR’s only current owner-driver – BJ McLeod (co-owner with ex-driver Matt Tifft). Here’s what he had to say:
“I am thrilled to have Motorsport Games as our team’s founding partner. I first got my interest in NASCAR from playing racing video games, so this is a natural fit for myself and BJ… Being a huge fan of racing games and having the opportunity to represent NASCAR Heat 5 is something that I take great pride in.”
It’s worth noting, for those that aren’t aware, that the Daytona 500 is the pinnacle of “Speedweeks”. Within that, there are plenty of other races, including the Xfinity and truck series – two more car types available to race in NASCAR Heat 5.
If you’re planning on watching the 2021 Daytona 500, it’ll be live at 19:30 UTC / 14:30 ET. It’ll be a bit different from previous years, with a severely reduced crowd due to the coronavirus pandemic. For US fans, it’ll be broadcast on Fox, for the rest of the world it’s a bit more tricky. If you’re in the UK, you can watch on Premier Sports but outside of that, it might be a bit more challenging. NASCAR created this graphic for the 2020 season but doesn’t appear to have shared anything similar for 2021.
Will you be watching the Daytona 500? What about taking advantage of the free play weekend for NASCAR Heat 5 on Xbox? As always, let us know on social media or in the comments.
