This week on iRacing, the Fanatec GT Challenge official series heads to Brands Hatch Circuit for the third week of the third season in 2021. Once again, we’ve got Dave Cam on the case to crack how the Porsche 911 GT3 R is able to navigate the lefts and rights around the 2.433-mile, 3.908-kilometer racing venue.
The current Grand Prix circuit layout, which overhead looks like an eighth note on a piece of sheet music, has been in use since 2003. An older, slightly varied version of the track hosted a dozen editions of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix from 1964 to 1986, but since it’s current look came to be, the venue has mostly hosted popular European closed fender cars, such as the British Touring Car Championship, Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) and of course, EuroNASCAR.
In this episode, Dave explains how to find the right flow through the corners, as the GT3 cars can be challenging at this track. Finding the smoothest line and minimizing mistakes will be key, as the passing zones on the track are scarce. Watch to get an in-depth look at every corner as Dave takes us through the methods of taking on this technical track.
