Álex Palou, the 2021 NTT IndyCar champion, has been announced as a Team Redline ambassador today, according to Team Redline’s Twitter account.

24-year-old Palou most recently drove for Team Fordzilla in the LMP class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, finishing seventh overall with team-mates Luke Browning, Nuno Pinto and Gianmarco Fiduci.

The young Spaniard joins Team Redline after perhaps their most successful month in sim racing, having won both GTE and LMP classes of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual in January – with team member and Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen also leading for a spell.

The squad also snatched the multi-sim VCO Esports Racing World Cup after some consistent displays across three days of intense competition.

Last month we spoke to the team, and they attribute their success to pairing the fastest sim racers on the planet to a family-like team atmosphere. This was best exemplified at Le Mans when Rudy Van Buren drove three hours cross-country to use teammate Kevin Siggy’s rig after hardware failure mid-race.

Cited as an ambassadorial role, it is not currently known how much sim racing Palou will take part in this year, but you can see how he fares in tonight’s INDYCAR Pro Challenge live on Traxion.GG later today.

With the inputs of both of 2021’s F1 and IndyCar champions, 2022 will surely be an interesting year for the team and its fans.
