IMSA Esports Michelin Global Championship starts Sunday, Road Atlanta entry list unveiled

44 entries among two classes have been unveiled for the first race of the IMSA Esports Michelin Global Championship. This Sunday, the inaugural season kicks off with a visit to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the first of four events on the 2022 schedule, each contest set for a two hour and 40 minute time frame.

The two classes that will take part include the GT Daytona class, made up of various GT3 cars available on the iRacing service, and the Touring Car class which includes the Hyundai Elantra TC N and Honda Civic Type R machines in the TC division.

30 of the 44 entries will be listed under the GTD class. The six cars in the class include the BMW M4 GT3, Ferrari 488 Evo GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020 and Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Teams entered include some names familiar to us from other series such as the Le Mans Virtual Series and other various iRacing World Championships. They include the likes of Williams Esports, Team Redline, Apex Racing Team, BMW Team BS+COMPETITION, Altus Esports and Dörr Esports.

In the Touring Car class, 14 cars will be entered with further more notable names, such as R8G Esports. Some teams such as the Apex Racing Team are double dipping, racing with cars in both classes, and that list includes CrowdStrike Racing, Puresims Esports and Arnage Competition.

Michelin is now signed on as the entitlement sponsor of the series and all 44 cars will utilize the Michelin-branded tires.

A $25,000 total purse is up for grabs over the course of the series. The Virtual Competition Organisation (VCO) will provide media assets for the series, including the broadcast which will be available on both iRacing and VCO social channels.
