Turn 10 Studios’ follow-up to 2017’s Forza Motorsport 7 is perhaps the biggest racing game release of the year.
Yes, Forza Motorsport will finally be available to play on the 10th of October via physical and digital editions – including Game Pass – but we’re going to explain how you can access the game ahead of its official release date below.
Forza Motorsport general release date
Forza Motorsport’s Standard Edition will be released on the 10th of October on the following platforms:
- PC (Microsoft Xbox Store, Steam)
- Xbox Series X|S
How to play Forza Motorsport before the 10th of October
To access Forza Motorsport early, players need to purchase one of two digital versions of the game. This will enable players to play Forza Motorsport on the 5th of October 2023 (or the 4th of October if you live in the Pacific Time Zone). The two editions are:
- Forza Motorsport Deluxe Edition
- Forza Motorsport Premium Edition
These editions will allow players to play the game at 12:01 a.m. in their region on the 5th of October, with the exception of those in the Pacific Time Zone (western USA, Canada and Mexico), who will be able to play the game at 9:00 p.m. PDT on the 4th of October 2023.
Those in the New Zealand-centred NZDT time zone will be able to play first – be careful not to accidentally change your console or PC’s time zone to play Forza Motorsport early…
How can I play Forza Motorsport early via Game Pass?
If you have Xbox Game Pass you can play Forza Motorsport for free on the 10th of October. However, if you own Game Pass and want to play the game on the 5th of October you will need to purchase the following digital upgrade pack:

Forza Motorsport pre-load options and how to download
Forza Motorsport is available to pre-load now for owners of Xbox Game Pass or for those who have already purchased Standard, Deluxe and Premium Editions of the game from the Microsoft Xbox Store.
To download ahead of the launch date, simply navigate to the game’s landing page on the Xbox Store and click on ‘Pre-Install’ where the ‘Download’ button normally resides. For Steam users, the process is similar, but done via the Steam Store and by clicking ‘Preload.’
Note: you will need at least 119GB of free space for the PC Xbox version and 118GB for the PC Steam version, with Xbox Series X and S versions requiring 133GB and 100GB of free space respectively.
Forza Motorsport early access date
Forza Motorsport is available to play on the 5th of October for owners of the Premium and Deluxe Editions of the game at, unlocking at 12:01 a.m. in your region.
For those in the Pacific Time Zone, the game will unlock at 9 p.m. PDT on the 4th of October.
