Part of the London Stock Exchange-listed Embracer Group, PLAION owns the racing game studio Milestone, publishing its titles such as MotoGP, Monster Energy Supercross, Hot Wheels Unleashed and Ride.
The deal, however, is not to own the studio, but rather publish the upcoming title and assist with its promotion under a strategic partnership.
“Our vision for this new game is a hardcore racing sim with a commitment to bringing the community the kind of simulation and modding tools they want,” said Straight4 Studios’ CEO, Ian Bell.
“PLAION immediately understood our ambition and potential and we have every confidence that this new partnership will play a defining role in pushing the sim racing industry to a whole new level of realism and fun.”
The platform will mark a return to the sim racing scene following a departure from Electronic Arts for Bell and the creation of the now sadly departed Project CARS franchise. Straight4 Studios is a fresh team, formulated to create the all-new GTR Revival.
“The much-anticipated return of one of sim racing’s most iconic development teams has been immeasurably strengthened by our strategic partnership with PLAION. The whole team has been energized by what PLAION will bring to our game,” said Straight4 Studios’ Chief Development Officer, Kevin Boland.
