25 years after the first, Gran Turismo 7 has picked up Traxion.GG’s Racing Game of the Year award, as voted for by our community.
Your guide to Gran Turismo 7's Daily Races, w/c 28th November: Lambo Vision

Your votes are in, have been counted, and the decision is final – Gran Turismo 7 is the best racing game released in 2022.

An overwhelming number of the Traxion.GG community took part in the pole, live over the past week, 20 per cent more than last year.

Speaking of which, 2021’s victor was Forza Horizon 5, with a landslide victory. This time around the winner didn’t have it so easy…

Traxion.GG Racing Game of the Year 2022 – Gran Turismo 7

Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 7 December update

Polyphony Digital’s seventh numbered mainline Gran Turismo game came up trumps, with the return of car collecting, licence tests, missions and a genre-leading dynamic weather system.

Crucially, the car handling finally balances accessibility and realism, the photo mode and replays are as beautiful as ever and there’s a beguiling charm to the many idiosyncrasies.

There’s simply nothing else quite like it in the racing game and simulation space at present, and it takes the Traxion.GG Game of the Year gong with 29 per cent of the overall vote.

Runner up – World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing

Hands on with the World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing UMP Modified

PC-based simulation iRacing’s first-ever console-only game and it nailed it at its first attempt, finishing runner-up n our standings with 22 per cent of the vote.

The official game of the dirt oval racing series, World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing surpassed our expectations by offering precise handling, different racing lines and accurate track recreations. But the biggest draw is the detailed and lengthy career mode.

We can’t wait to see what it comes up with next…

Best of the rest

Of the five games we listed as the best of the year, behind Gran Turismo 7 and World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing, Need for Speed Unbound beat F1 Manager 2022, which in turn was just ahead of Horizon Chase 2.

Both Dakar Desert Rally, BeamNG.drive and Automobilista 2 – the latter two for their continued support – saw strong support within the write-in section, both surpassing the number of votes for Horizon Chase 2 and F1 Manager 2022.

To the two people who voted for the original Assetto Corsa, you’re eight years too late, sadly. But thank you.

See you in 2023!
