Some of PS5’s best racing games are reduced in Sony’s Black Friday sale

Thomas Harrison-Lord
A slate of the hottest racing games from 2022 are now significantly reduced during the PlayStation Store’s Black Friday sale, for both PS4 and PS5. Here are our top picks.
Gran Turismo 7, Interlagos, Nissan Skyline R34

Two of the most popular racing games released this year are currently on sale digitally during PlayStation’s Black Friday sale.

Starting today (18th November 2022), the PlayStation Store offers run until 28th November 2022 and include several non-racing titles such as Stray, Horizon Forbidden West and the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 1.

However, for those looking for a driving title on either PS4 or PS5, now may be the time to pick up a bargain.

F1 22

The F1 22 game now has more life-like liveries and car models

50 per cent has been lopped off the price of this season’s official Formula 1 game. By Electronic Arts and Codemasters, F1 22 features the current year’s cars, drivers, liveries and tracks, an engrossing My Team management mode and an equally superfluous road-going Supercars collection mini-game thing.

  • F1 22 PS4 – £59.99 / $59.99 £29.99 / $29.99
  • F1 22 PS5 – £69.99 / $69.99 £34.99 / $34.99

Gran Turismo 7

Bizarre issue forces track change in Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races

Solidly within the top ten UK physical sales charts through the year, Gran Turismo 7 delivers knock-out visuals, the best rain system in sim racing and a car collection sub-plot. Its online Sport Mode is console-leading, but perhaps once you’ve completed the main Cafe Menu Books, the longtail appeal wains.

Still, the 15-20 hours of driving game excellence are now available with up to 43 per cent off.

  • Gran Turismo 7 PS4 – £59.99 / $59.99 £34.19 / $29.99
  • Gran Turismo 7 PS5 – £69.99 / $69.99 £43.39 / $38.89
  • Gran Turismo 7 Digital Deluxe Edition PS4 and PS5 – £89.99 / $89.99 £62.99 / $53.39

F1 Manager 2022

F1 Manager 2022: Making Ferrari great again, part 2

Frontier Development’s first foray into motorsport is a belter. Not perfect, not feature-complete, but it can deliver moments of tension, frustration and elation like few other driving-related titles.

  • F1 Manager 2022 PS4 and PS5 – £47.99 / $54.99 £31.19 / $35.74

The Crew 2

The Crew 2 Elite Bundle 9, Koenigsegg CCR

The current active player base of The Crew 2 still boggles my mind, and we’re in the midst of the fifth year of new cars, challenges and unlocks on the way, such is the support.

One of the largest open worlds ever seen in gaming, team up with some friends and climb those leaderboards

  • The Crew 2 Gold Edition PS4 – £72.99 / $89.99 £14.59 / $17.99
  • The Crew 2 Season Pass PS4 – £32.99 / $39.99 £13.19 / $15.99

Hot Wheels Unleashed

Classic Packard, Hot Wheels Unleashed

One of our favourite games of 2021, Hot Wheels Unleashed has sold over one million units and continues to be one of the parent company Embracer Group’s tentpole titles.

Its slick graphics, stunning attention to detail and varied career make it an instant purchase for us, even if you’re usually into more series driving platforms.

  • Hot Wheels Unleashed PS4 – £72.99 / $49.99 £14.59 / $9.99
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed PS5 – £32.99 / $49.99 £13.19 / $9.99
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed GOTY upgrade pack PS4 and PS5 – £36.99 / $44.99 £18.49 / $22.49

Assetto Corsa Comeptizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione PS5, Indianapolis

It’s hard to recommend the PS4 version of one of the most-loved racing simulators, but the PS5 version – yes, that’s special.

Rough around the edges at launch, no doubt, it’s now been refined, updated and the latest car and track DLC is available. Looking for something with a focused edge, look no further. This is a bargain.

  • Assetto Corsa Competizione PS4 and PS5 bundle – £34.99 / $39.99 £10.49 / $11.99

Dakar Desert Rally

Dakar Desert Rally review - Potentially incredible

It’s been a rocky start to life for Dakar Desert Rally, both literally and figuratively, with expected features and post-release updates coming a little slower than expected. Despite these quirks, there’s one of the most unique and vibrant racing game environments around, and this reduced price means the punt is more digestible.

If you’re after something unique, give this a try.

  • Dakar Desert Rally PS4 and PS5 – £34.99 / $39.99 £24.49 / $27.99
  • Dakar Desert Rally Deluxe Edition PS4 and PS5 – £32.49 / $59.99 £10.49 / $38.99
  • Dakar Desert Rally Season Pass PS4 and PS5 – £24.99 / $29.99 £16.24 / $19.49
  • Dakar Desert Rally Legends Pack PS4 and PS5 – £7.99 / $9.99 £5.59 / $6.99

GRID Legends

A photo mode has been added to GRID Legends

The Deluxe Edition of this predominately story-driven racing game has grown on us over time. The post-release DLC packs have a mix of unique modes and nostalgia, and all are included in this version.

One for those not looking for something serious to get you into the racing game genre.

  • GRID Legends Deluxe Edition PS4 and PS5 – £79.99 / $79.99 £26.39 / $23.99
