As if the original Fanatec CSL Elite McLaren GT3 steering wheel wasn’t exciting enough already, the Bavarian peripheral manufacturer has revealed a ‘V2’ update.

Building on the first release from 2018 (based on the 650S GT3), the new revision featured redesigned electronics, the aim being to improve performance and durability. The shifting mechanism has been updated for a longer throw and improved tactility. In addition, there’s a new white 1” OLED display.

But, those details aside, come on. We’re all here because it’s a full-scale replica of the latest McLaren 720S GT3 steering used on actual racing cars. In your house. How cool is that?!

That also means you get four switchable modes for your gearshift paddles, including the ability to use them as clutch release mechanisms with accurate bite-point reproduction. Plus, a seven function ‘FunkySwitch’. Who doesn’t love a FunkySwitch?

The Fanatec CSL Elite McLaren GT3 V2 steering wheel is compatible with the following bases:

  • ClubSport Wheel Base V2
  • ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5
  • CSL Elite Wheel Base
  • CSL Elite Wheel Base V1.1
  • CSL Elite Wheel Base + officially licensed for PS4™
  • Podium Wheel Base DD1
  • Podium Wheel Base DD2
  • Podium Racing Wheel F1® (Podium Wheel Base DD1 PS4™)

If this doesn’t make you feel like Jenson Button, Rob Bell or any of the McLaren GT3 drivers from 2020, we don’t know what will. It’s all yours for $199.95/€199.95, which is the same price as the recently released WRC wheel by Fanatec. Will you be picking one up? Let us know in the comments below. Seems like the perfect fit for Assetto Corsa Competizione to us.
