In order to swap teams within F1 Manager 24’s career mode, you must wait until all races have finished in a season and reach the end of the calendar year.
When the year ends, between 31st December and 1st January, you will see an on-screen prompt, either ‘accept new target’ or ‘switch teams’.
To switch teams, select the latter. To stay where you are, select the former.
Which teams can you change to?
Depending on the season you decide to switch, you may not be able to select the likes of Ferrari or Red Bull Racing. The teams you can switch to depends on your Team Principal Rating – a score that rises and falls across multiple seasons based on your performance.
In this example, we could opt for RB, Haas, Williams, Sauber or Alpine but not Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin or Mercedes-AMG.
Will you inherit the other team’s drivers and funds?
Yes, if you switch teams in F1 Manager 2024’s career mode, you will initially continue that squad’s trajectory from the prior year.
In our testing, if we swapped to Haas from RB, we inherited a team saddled with debt which prevented us from creating new parts – although, selecting a sponsor with an up-front cash lump sum pre-season alleviated the pressure somewhat.
Or, when we selected Alpine, its finances were in much better shape.
Our old RB squad continued with the drivers we had signed at the end of the season before the new one started. If you want to be mean-spirited, you could sign up poorly-rated drivers and then switch teams. It’s up to you.
