With the current season underway, EA has officially announced F1 25, the next entry in Codemasters’ annual Formula 1 series. We’ll get our first look at this year’s F1 game in a reveal trailer dropping on 26th March, with EA teasing that a “new chapter awaits.”
Further details are being kept under wraps for now. Naturally, this year’s game will include the 2025 season’s driver lineup. This is reflected in the trailer’s artwork, which prominently features seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton donning his red Ferrari racing suit after leaving Mercedes.
Notably, the teaser confirms that F1 25 will have an “Iconic Edition.” This will likely be similar to F1 23 and F1 24’s Champions Editions, which include a few extra perks such as special liveries, driver Icons and early access. The name suggests that this year’s deluxe edition will include legendary drivers to celebrate Formula 1’s 75th anniversary this year.
F1 25’s release date has yet to be confirmed, but Codemasters’ F1 games usually launch in the summer, with F1 24 releasing in May last year. We’re expecting to find out the release date in this week’s reveal trailer.
Platforms are also unannounced, though it’s a given that F1 25 will release on PC as well as the current PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. What’s not clear is if it will launch on PS4 and Xbox One. F1 24 released on last-gen consoles, but recent EA games like NHL 25 and EA Sports College Football 25 have skipped the PS4 and Xbox One.
That said, EA FC 25 launched on PS4 and Xbox One last September. Considering Formula 1’s rising popularity, we expect F1 24 to release on as many platforms as possible.
Will F1 25 have a new game engine? Will Braking Point return? Will it still be released on last-gen consoles? Those questions will hopefully be answered when F1 25’s reveal trailer drops on 26th March.
