ESL R1’s final team lineup reveal is G2 Esports Sim Racing

With only days to go until the first ever ESL R1 races kick off at IEM Expo Katowice in Poland, G2 Esports has finally revealed their lineup for the inaugural season.

In conjunction with members of the Oracle Red Bull Racing Esports squad, the four drivers that will compete for G2 Esports’ Sim Racing team in 2023 will include Joni Törmälä, Robbie Stapleford, Isaac Price and Eamonn Murphy.

Nathan Tague, also known on the team as G2 Rosso, will manage the team and the reserve driver for the lineup will be none other than Oracle Red Bull Racing’s official sim test driver Sebastian Job.

For both Stapleford and Price, the two have been faces of the G2 Army for their Sim Racing program as of late, competing mainly on high level competitions on the Assetto Corsa Competizione program.

Törmälä and reserve driver Job are mainstays over on the Oracle Red Bull Racing Esports program, both having competed in the F1 Esports Series for the sister program at AlphaTauri.

The shocking signing here may be the addition of former Veloce member Eamonn Murphy, who announced his departure from the team just last week. He’ll fill out the G2 roster as they aim to conquer the ESL R1 series.

Their livery, which is on a BMW M4 GT3, features the G2 Samurai emblem on the door with Logitech G and Red Bull logos around the scheme. Price will drive the #99, Murphy the #66, Stapleford will be the #81 and Törmälä will be in the #51.

G2 Esports will join 11 other top level teams on the Rennsport platform in this inaugural ESL R1 series season. Everything kicks off this weekend (11th and 12th February 2023) at the IEM Expo Katowice in Poland.
