A demo for stylised off-roading sim Over the Hill is available now, giving players a chance to sample its surprisingly deep driving mechanics while exploring the verdant Emerald Lake location.
The game, which has so far surpassed one million Wishlists, is the brainchild of one-man development team Funselektor and is the follow-up to Art of Rally and Golden Lap. And just like these titles, Over the Hill features a distinctive retro vibe, combined with a
Developed in association with Strelka Games, Over the Hill parachutes players into a variety of environments and scenarios, with exploration the name of the game.
Four-player online cooperative play has also been championed ahead of release, with players able to harness winches and low-range gearboxes to get them out of trouble when the going gets tough.
Completing driving objectives unlocks new vehicles, cosmetic items and vehicle upgrades, with the focus on a cathartic, chilled-out driving experience rather than the arcadey thrills of art of rally.
Over the Hill’s demo is available now until the conclusion of Steam Next Fest on 22nd June. A full release date has yet to be announced, but the game is slated for a 2026 unveiling on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical PS5 and Switch 2 versions are also expected to be available for pre-order shortly.
