Professional motorcyclist Davey Todd worked with RaceWard Studios on 2023’s TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3, providing pivotal feedback on how to make the game feel more realistic.

In a previous interview for the Traxion Podcast, Todd admitted that for his first visit to the island, he learned the Snaefell Mountain Course using Kylotonn’s TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge.

And now he’s a two-time TT winner, after completing an incredible week’s racing by claiming the most prestigious road race of the year – the Senior TT.

“In 2018 I was a newcomer at the Isle of Man TT and I used the first edition [TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge] to learn the TT course,” said Todd in an interview to promote ROTE 3 in March 2023.

“At the time I didn’t have a console so I borrowed my brother’s PlayStation and played the game over and over and over to learn the course because I heard it was a really accurate representation,” he continued.

“I can honestly say that it paid dividends,” he concluded, which now seems like the understatement of the century.

Todd was unlucky to miss out on Superbike TT honours last week after his BMW M1000RR failed to restart after his second pitstop, leaving Peter Hickman to claim victory after a dramatic visor-related mishap for leader Michael Dunlop.

Todd recovered to second position but was more fired up than ever heading into the sole Superstock race of the week. Riding a similar BMW machine to the one he races in the British Superstock Championship, Todd ended up 2s clear of Hickman at the chequered flag, taking his first TT victory in the process.

The 28-year-old Yorkshireman capitalised on this momentum by sealing the Senior win on Saturday (8th June), covering 4 laps – over 150 miles – in just 68 minutes and nine seconds, with main rivals Dunlop and Hickman both retiring.

Dunlop could at least console himself with breaking his uncle Joey’s wins record, adding a further three victories to take his total to 29, becoming the most successful TT rider in history. Hickman also increased his tally to 14 after his earlier Superbike win.

However, the 2024 event has seen Todd emerge as a genuine competitor to his more illustrious opponents, and we wouldn’t bet against seeing him on top of the Glencrutchery Road rostrum again in 2025.
