Just days after the Danish team’s epic LMP win at Round 1 of the Le Mans Virtual Series in Bahrain, Slovenian driver Jernej Simončič has inked a new contract.

The world champion is locked into a multi-year extension (unspecified term) with Burst Esports, highlighting his importance to the team moving forward.

Not surprising, Simončič was driving the # 4 Floyd Vanwall-Burst car when it crossed the finish line in Bahrain, solidifying the chequered flag and the group’s first win of the season alongside his teammates.

“Winning at the highest level of sim racing competition is incredible,” Simončič said following the first round of the LMVS.

“But what really gave me the biggest smiles was when I finally took the lead with a good hour to go, knowing just how much work, prowess and passion had been behind the on-track performance.

And understanding it all, I had the honour to drive off into the distance away from main competitors in the final race stint as one very long victory lap.”

Fellow driver and team manager Jesper Pedersen praised the three-time Formula SimRacing World Champion for his strong skillset and says the team was happy to make the deal.

“[Simončič] is extremely fast on track and has big technical know-how. That makes him an essential part of the strong rFactor2 line-up that we have.”

The Slovenian superstar was crowned the Season 4 Champion of the GT Pro Series last October, while also snagging his second Formula Pro Series round at Monza this in May.

Congrats to Jernej on the fresh contract! And all the best to Burst Esport this season in the Le Mans Virtual Series. Be sure to tune into Round 2 at Monza, broadcasting LIVE on 8th October 2022 over on the Traxion.GG YouTube channel.
