Over the next few months, BMW and Assetto Corsa Competizione are teaming up for a trio of Time Attack challenges that will reward each round winner with a cool €2,500 prize. Open to all around the world, the BMW M Sim Time Attack is a unique take on hot lapping.
The first round is open now, from the 3rd of July to the 17th, and it requires participants to take on WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the BMW M2 CS Racing machine. The goal is stated that racers are to set the highest amount of laps as they can in the shortest time during the 20 minute time limit.
What that seems like it entails is that if, for example, a sets lap times on average around two minutes, that means drivers can get 10 laps in, but the person who completes those 10 laps the fastest will be the winner. Of course if one person manages to get 11 laps, then they’d be on top. An interesting idea, surely.
There will be two more rounds are two other tracks in two different BMW cars. From the 4th to the 18th in September, the venue will be Misano and will utilize the BMW M4 GT4. The final round will be from the 2nd to the 16th in October, the track will be Valencia, and the car will be the BMW M4 GT3.
Of course, to take part, you’ll need ACC on PC via Steam, the GT4 Pack DLC, the Challengers Pack DLC, the Intercontinental GT Pack DLC, the 2023 GT World Challenge Pack DLC, and finally, to register with a real name as your ACC driver profile and at the official website.
More rules, such as what you need to save and where you need to send it, are available to read in the official regulations. The setups will be open, the time and weather conditions will be provided in the lobby, and the assists will be limited to just TC and ABS. Good luck to all who participate!
