We interrupt our regular motorsport programming for something a little ‘out-there’, as Automobilista 2 developer Reiza Studios has teased a new type of truck.
The social media video clip showcases a pack of pickup trucks flying through the air, before landing on asphalt and continuing to race.
These are Stadium SUPER Trucks, or facsimiles of, anyway.
The concept was created by former NASCAR and Dakar star Robby Gordon, famed for creating his own rally raid cars, and then seemingly never lifting over rough terrain.
The high-riding trucks have heavy-duty suspension with 26-inches of travel. They can take ginormous impacts, so organisers place temporary ramps onto race circuits. Competitors then drive laps like a regular motorsport series, but jump several times a lap. There’s also a dirt stadium series.
The sometimes topsy-turvy vehicles have 600bhp to boot. They will make for a sea change in AMS2 compared to its recent IMSA content and are a call back to the original Automobilista, which included a similar vehicle.
No release date is available, but the development team does state ‘coming soon’.
