Assetto Corsa EVO PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions “in development”, but “good things need time”

Assetto Corsa EVO is coming to consoles, but, naturally, only after the base product is in a better place and has reached the 1.0 milestone.

“What about PS5?”, “Do they not care about consoles?!”, “Xbox now, please!”

A sample of some recent comments spotted in reference to Assetto Corsa EVO, which, if it follows its predecessors, is likely to hit the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at some point.

A prior Digital Bros – the Assetto Corsa franchise owners – financial report emphatically stated that the game would hit consoles (back then it was still codenamed ‘Assetto Corsa 2’), but there’s never been an on-record comment by the Kunos Simulazioni development team that these versions exist.

That is, until now.

“Console versions are something that is absolutely in the schedule, but we can’t confirm when it’s going to happen,” said Kunos Co-founder and Executive Manager, Marco Massarutto, to Traxion.

“When we read comments on YouTube videos, at least one comment in five, more or less, is about consoles – ‘console when?’

“We don’t ignore this and we don’t consider the console users as a sort of ‘B user’ for our products. We are a very small team compared with the kind of product we are trying to produce, so good things need time.”

EVO went through a shift in planned roadmap, with the initial Fall 2025 timeline to exit early access now being “assessed” and removed from the public plan. This is down to, in part, a refactoring of the title based on initial user feedback.

“I think the console version of EVO will follow the same pattern as the previous Assetto Corsa,  they will come after 1.0 on PC and then on console.

“The porting is already in development by a satellite team that has been working with us for more than one year.

“Ideally, the console version comes when 1.0 arrives on PC, but at the moment it’s far too early to confirm that.”

Irrespective of a lack of timeline, hearing that EVO will unequivocally make it to Sony and Microsoft devices is a relief and should help quell some of the community’s concerns.

It also follows a recent trend, that you could argue that Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione provided a pathway for, of sim racing titles coming to the latest console generation. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will soon never have had it so good…
