American Truck Simulator developer SCS Software has announced an intriguing addition to the game’s upcoming v1.49 build, which will further enhance its partnership with the PACCAR family of brands.
PACCAR – short for Pacific Car and Foundry Company – is home to the DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt truck brands, and its PACCAR Technical Center, where PACCAR trucks are put through their paces for research and design purposes, is set to arrive in American Truck Simulator (ATS) soon.
The site, located in Mount Vernon, Washington, focuses on truck powertrain testing, with better economy always a hot topic in the logistics business. The new addition also has areas to test hill starts, simulate rough roads and includes a large oval circuit to test truck performance.
All we need now is an in-game drafting mechanic to create some impromptu online truck racing…
Interestingly, the PACCAR Technical Center won’t be readily visible on the in-game map when the v1.49 update drops, allowing players to hunt out this exciting Easter egg for themselves, with something special hidden away in the bowels of the main building.

Euro Truck Simulator 2’s v1.48.5 update is out now
As previewed in September, Euro Truck Simulator 2’s ‘v1.48.5 Maintenance Update’ has now dropped after a brief period of testing in open beta.
The incremental update, released in preparation for the game’s West Balkans DLC unveiling, adds the Italian city of Trieste to the game, as well as refreshes the cities of Ancona and Bari for owners of the Italia DLC map pack.
We’ll be sure to report on any Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator update information as and when we get it.
