Drifting prologue JDM - Rise of the Scorpion released

Ahead of a full release at a later date, open-world drifting driving game Japanese Drift Master has released a free prologue on PC.

Available today, 8th August 2024, from Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store, JDM: Rise of the Scorpion is a diminutive vertical slice of the final, work-in-progress title.

Think of this as a form of early access, with everything that’s available subject to change.

You can explore a mountainous Haikama Lake region in Japan, with narrow village streets and unlicenced cars – the full release will feature branded Subarus and Mazdas at least. For now, you take to the wheel of something that is similar to a Nissan 350Z.

The sports car belongs to rebellious high school attendee Hatori Hasashi. You follow a mange-style story arc in-between challenges, that can involve drifting (for points) and straightforward races.

Created by Polish outfit Gaming Factory, JDM uses Unreal Engine inclusive of dynamic time of day and weather. The release date for the final game is not yet known.
