iRacing adding new pilot series in 2023 Season 3 – Ricmotech Ring Meister

A new concept of official series racing is slated to join the iRacing rotation starting in 2023 Season 3. Instead of the usual one car, multiple track racing seen across the board, iRacing announced on Friday (12th May) that the new Ricmotech Ring Meister series will race at one track with many cars over the course of the season.

The track is the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the layout is the Industriefahrten, which is the standard starting area layout for the venue. Each race will be four laps and the races will occur every two hours. Every week, the single-make vehicle will change to something different to take on the large 14.2-mile, 22.8-kilometer course.

This pilot series may be the first of its kind if it goes well. Per the iRacing Downshift podcast, it is expected to be a C-Class single-make series. Just one type of car every week. It will have unattached qualifying and there will be some kinks to work out in its first go. Those looking to partake will have to buy the track and all the cars to participate every week, though there are some included cars on the inaugural roster.

The expected rotation, per iRacing, will be:

• WEEK 1: Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020
• WEEK 2: Porsche 718 Cayman GT4
• WEEK 3: Hyundai Elantra
• WEEK 4: Toyota GR86
• WEEK 5: Ferrari 488 GT3 EVO
• WEEK 6: BMW M4 GT4
• WEEK 7: Honda Civic
• WEEK 8: Ray FF1600
• WEEK 9: Porsche 911 GT3 R
• WEEK 10: Aston Martin Vantage GT4
• WEEK 11: Renault Clio
• WEEK 12: BMW M4 GT3

There will be a bit of difference in the weekly schedule switch, where the last scheduled race on the Monday before the start of the new week won’t actually be run, but instead, the car will be switched over to the next week’s selection, and due to how it works in the system, iRacers that are online at that time will be required to refresh their UI in order to be updated to the new car scheduled for the next week.

iRacing says that the success of this concept could lead to even more series like it at other tracks, with other cars. I would expect that it could even cross over to other licenses, maybe we could get a seasonal weekly oval series at some short tracks, akin to Hickory Motor Speedway where players can do Super Lates, Late Model Stocks, Silver Crown, Modifieds, heck even throw in a NASCAR NEXT Gen too.
