Rennsport’s Closed Beta moved to January 2023

Promising sim Rennsport‘s Closed Beta phase has been pushed back to January 2023, from the initial date of December 2022.

Originally, the Unreal Engine 5-powered racing simulator was set to enter its Closed Beta in December but this has now slipped to the following month.

Traxion.GG was informed of the decision by a Rennsport representative.

Rennsport has made a favourable impression on the sim racing community since it broke cover at its launch summit event in May 2022. However, some sim racing content creators have got behind the wheel with the very early Closed Alpha status.

The waiting list for the Beta opened in September, the first 50 per cent of people who signed up will receive access, the second half at random.

Rookie developer Competition Company GmbH has shown us licenced content from BMW, Porsche and Audi, plus playable versions of Hockenheim and the Goodwood Hillclimb track, with more licenced content promised in future.

The sim is set to focus heavily on the world of esports thanks to a partnership with esports broadcasting giant ESL. Rennsport CEO Morris Hebecker has also stated that modding will be a key part of Rennsport.

Although we’ve yet to see how mod sharing and payment will work in practice, Hebecker’s hint that brand partners like BMW, Porsche and Audi could get involved with licencing is intriguing.

The full platform is set for launch at the very end of 2023 at present.
