The development of American Truck Simulator’s much-anticipated Texas DLC continues apace, as developer SCS Software reveals more information regarding a new trailer type coming to the sim.
Ownable chemical tankers will be trundling their way onto both American Truck Simulator (ATS) and Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) titles in their respective v1.46 updates, with their use showcased in the Texas DLC’s new delivery destination: chemical plants.
Chemical manufacturing is crucial to just about every industry. It helps produce the raw materials necessary for producing formed plastics, fertilisers, synthetic fibres and lubricants, for example.

Chemical plants use oil and gas as raw materials, and Texas is responsible for around 40% of the USA’s crude oil supplies, so it’s logical to see why The Lonestar State is the top chemical producer in the country. It also makes Texas one of the more polluted locations in the USA. Perhaps this makes a case for electric truck DLC in the future?
ATS players will be able to visit oil wells, oil service depots and oil storage facilities and deliver to oil and chemical refineries. After that, players will be able to deliver finished products – such as petrol, diesel and kerosene, among others – to their final destination.
