The virtual edition of the 24 Hours of Spa is set to take place this weekend on the 7th and 8th of August. The GT World Challenge Europe Esports competitors will take on the 24 hour endurance event utilizing the Assetto Corsa Competizione simulation.
A week removed from the real twice-around-the-clock event in Belgium, the virtual drivers are taking on Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the same distance officially for the first time. 33 teams made up of three or four drivers will all aim to be the front runner after a full day and night of racing.
This is the third of five races on the Endurance Series calendar. The total 2021 season consists of 15 events, 10 of them merely sprint races. The entire series is organized by SRO Motorsports Group in conjunction with Kunos Simulazioni, Fanatec and Pirelli, among others.
This event has attracted many big names in sim racing to take part in. With 33 teams of either three or four drivers, more than 100 talented drivers will partake in the historic sim event.
Ferrari F1 Esports driver David Tonizza will be in the field for the No. 51 FDA Esports Team driving a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo. Tonizza leads the GT World Challenge Europe Esports Sprint Series standings currently, collecting three wins in five total events so far this season.
Nikodem Wisniewski will be a part of the No. 1 Williams Esports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 team. Wisniewski competes in the ADAC GT Masters Esports Series on RaceRoom Racing Experience and started the latest season off with a feature victory at Oschersleben, currently ninth in the overall standings after four rounds.
The sim to reality racer and 2021 British GT Esports champion James Baldwin will pilot a Rocket RJN McLaren 720S GT3, the No. 23, together with Jack McIntyre and Luka Berk.
Joshua K. Rogers, the Porsche Tag Heuer Esports Supercup champion on iRacing, will also join one of two VRS Coanda Simsport teams in the field. The No. 18 Porsche 911 II GT3 R will be headlined by Rogers while the No. 88 is led by Martin Krönke.
Of course, we’ll have our eye on Traxion contributor Ross McGregor who will be part of the No. 38 JOTA McLaren 720S GT3 team. JOTA just picked up their best result at Spa by finishing seventh overall in the real event.
The race stream starts at 9:00 a.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. BST / 3:00 p.m. CEST on Saturday, 7th August. The event will go green around 10 minutes into the start of the stream and will end 24 hours after that on Sunday, 8th August. Check out the stacked roster of drivers below the embedded stream.
