PC racer Warhammer 40000: Speed Freeks is gearing up for a PS5 release, bringing Games Workshop’s brand of combat racing to a new audience.

  • Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks coming to PS5 in 2026
  • Crossplay will be possible between PC and PS5 communities

Released last year on PC, Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks was hailed for its budget-friendly take on the combat racing genre.

Speed Freeks played like a violent blend of Rocket League and Destruction Derby, employing Games Workshop’s endearingly stupid Orks as the main protagonists. Console players will therefore be glad to know that the game will be released on PS5 this year.

Developed by Caged Element Inc, Speed Freeks may seem to be thin on game modes, but it makes up for this through sheer chaos, including a fully customisable Creation Mode allowing players to create their own multiplayer maps.

A bold take on Capture the Flag is perhaps the headline mode, with players working in teams to capture flags (well, bombs), using them to decimate their opposition’s mobile base.

Although the game can be played offline, it’s online PVP where the action really ramps up, with crossplay set to bring PC and PS5 communities together in the spirit of vehicular violence.

It’s been a busy couple of days for Caged Elements, with the Toronto-based studio also announcing a Kickstarter for its GRIP Combat Racing spin-off, GRIP XR.

No release date or price details have been revealed for the PS5 version, but if the PC edition’s current low price of £15.99 is anything to go by, Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks could be Ork-some value for money. Apologies.
