GRID Legends will launch natively as Quest title on 12th January

If you’re a gamer that likes their games in virtual reality, well, we’ve got some good news for you. GRID Legends, the Codemasters and Electronic Arts racing title that was released in February of 2022 for PC and console, is getting the VR treatment as it’s set to launch as a Meta Quest-native title on 12th January 2023.

Launching for the Oculus Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro at $29.99 (or $26.99 if you pre-order), GRID Legends will be the first Quest-native title from Codemasters and EA available on the Quest Store. They’ve had titles that work in VR before, but GRID Legends will be the first made specifically for it.

GRID Legends Meta Quest VR

GRID Legends is a title we enjoyed back when it launched in February, scoring a ‘Wishlist’ rank on our Traxion.GG review scale. I personally played through the entire story and other parts of the title, and it was a decent amount of fun with the type of racing to be had. It definitely had its moments.

From the small amount that we got from the Quest launch trailer, the graphics are definitely not as detailed as the PC or console releases were, but we do get more of a sense of how the viewer moves around with a VR-headset attached. Each car n the game does already feature a cockpit camera viewpoint.

It will be interesting to see how cutscenes will work in the story mode. Will we be getting those scenes from the viewpoint of Driver 22 now? Or will it be the same camera crew takes where the scene is fixed in one point of view. I also question if this means that in this title that all players are locked to cockpit view.

This could be just the start for more full-fledged titles to launch on these devices natively for future releases, even possibly at the same time as console and PC launches. The technology continues to improve over time, so Quest is making a huge move here with the upcoming release.

GRID Legends for Oculus Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro goes on sale on 12th January for $29.99, or it can be pre-ordered now for $26.99. Otherwise, GRID Legends is available for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam for its normal price of $59.99.
