The new Forza Motorsport will launch with over 500 cars, sometime this year

Chris Esaki, the Creative Director at Turn 10 Studios, as well as a few of the other prominent members of the Turn 10 Studios team, were guests on Developer_Direct, presented by Xbox & Bethesda on Wednesday (25th January) live on the Xbox YouTube to talk about the upcoming Forza Motorsport title.

In the nearly six-minute block during the premiered video, details surrounding the game which is still slated for a release date in 2023, were unveiled in the behind the scenes look at what goes into developing such a title.

HUGE AMOUNT OF CONTENT

A sneak peek at some of the racing cars featured during the Developer_Direct stream.

One of the big details to come out of the premiere was the number of pieces of content that will be included in the title.

Forza Motorsport will contain over 500 cars with 800 unique upgrades at launch, with details as precise as the differing sounds made with each upgraded part included in the gameplay.

100 of those cars will be new to the Motorsport title, and there will also be more modern race cars than ever before included as well.

Kyalami will be included for the first time on a Forza Motorsport title, as it was featured as such during the Developer_Direct stream.

There will also be 20 environments in Forza Motorsport, and five of them will be brand new to the title.

The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit is one of those, based in South Africa. We can also see that Suzuka Circuit and Laguna Seca will return to the franchise as well based on footage in the trailer.

DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS

Back in June, we found out about things like the fully dynamic time of day with weather, the dynamic track temperatures, the wet driving surfaces and the rubbering in, all of which affects the track surface and racing lines to take.

The Porsche Mission R, an all-electric racing machine, is also available currently in iRacing and slated to release in Rennsport. It was featured during the Developer_Direct stream.

All of the dynamic racing properties will sure that “no two laps ever play the same,” according to Turn 10 Studios Direct of Motorsport Content, Arthur Shek.

Shek also spoke on the visual details included as well, including “animated track life, physically based lighting and volumetric fog effects, and a fully procedural cloud system which evolves organically” which leads to a more immersive experience.

The title will come with 4K gaming and real-time ray tracing. Also, things will look great when they don’t look great, as damage and dirt buildup on each car will be unique and more realistic looking as well.

ENHANCED GAME MODES

A look at the Forza Motorsport HUD during the Developer_Direct stream.

At the end of the presentation, Esaki mentioned that they’ve got an “incredible new online racing mode” but no further details were dropped on that.

Also with no further context is that there will be a “car building-focused single player career” mode as well, which likely ties into the vast amount of the 800 unique upgrades mentioned above.

RELEASE DATE?

Back in June of 2022, it was said that the release date would be the Spring of 2023. Now, it just says 2023 with no further clarification. This could mean that it’s been pushed back to later in the year, but nothing else has been made official on it at this time.
